Gibberellins
Gibberellins (GA) are growth regulators that enhance different aspects of growth and development in plants.
More than 70 types of GA have been studied of which only a few are in their bioactive form. The rest are either inactive forms or intermediates involved in the synthesis pathway.
Role of gibberellins:
They induce elongation of stems by cell enlargement or division, germination in seeds, early sprouting in tubers, induce flowering and parthenocarpy in plants, and increase the number of female flowers in plants like Cannabis and cucurbits.
