The following steps are involved in magnetizing an iron strip with the help of a magnet:
1. Firstly take the iron strip which has to be magnetized.
2. Place it on a wooden table.
3. Then hold one end of the magnet in your hand and keep the other end of the magnet near to the one end of the iron strip.
4. Now move the magnet along the length of the iron strip without lifting it from the strip
5. After you have reached the other end of the strip, Bring the magnet again to the initial position and repeat the previous process.
6. After some repetitions, bring some iron fillings close to the strip. If the strip attracts the iron filings then the strip is magnetized.
