Major parts of the flower are sepals, petals, stamen and carpels.

  3. Stamen/Androecium: Male reproductive parts are known as stamens or androecium which produce pollen grains. Two parts of the androecium are anther(swollen tip) and filament(stalk).
  4. Carpels/Gynoecium: Female reproductive organs are called pistils or carpels. These are the innermost parts where seed formation takes place. It consists of three parts- Stigma, style, and ovary.
  • Stigma- Swollen, receptive portion of the pistil.
  • Style- Long tube-like structure connecting the ovary and the stigma.
  • Ovary- Bottommost region where ovules are present and seed formation takes place.
