Dear Student,
The three layers of the earth are :
1) Core - The innermost layer of the earth is core
Characteristic of core:
• Radius of about 3,500 km from the centre of the Earth.
• Inner core is metallic and composed mainly of Nickel and Iron
2) Mantle - The middle layer of the earth is called the mantle
Characteristics of mantle:
• It consist os hot, dense semisolid rock and is about 2,900 kilo meters (1,800 miles).
• Movement in mantle causes volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.
3) Crust - The layer of soil that covers the lithosphere.
Characteristics of crust:
• It is very thin in comparison to the other three layers.
• The crust is only about 3-5 miles (8 kilo meters) thick under the oceans(oceanic crust) and about 25 miles (32 kilo meters) thick under the continents (continental crust).
