The types of solar eclipses are as follows:

1. Total or complete solar eclipse.-

  1. This happens to a small surface of the earth where the moon blocks the sun completely for some time.
  2. A small region of earth that covers an approximate area of 600 km wide and 1600 km long.

2. Partial solar eclipse-

  1. In this kind of solar eclipse happens when the moon partially covers the path of the sun.

3. Annular solar eclipse-

  1. This kind of solar eclipse happens when the moon covers the center of the sun, leaving an outer ring of the sun visible from the earth.
  2. This outer ring is called the “annulus” or the ring of fire, hence the name annular solar eclipse.
