• The Mughals also gained control over the Khandesh and intended to establish control in the south.
• During this period, multiple European countries like the British, the Portuguese, the French and the dutch established themselves through trade to gain political power and trade monopoly.
• The Portuguese set up their trade centres along the western coastline in Goa and Vasai.
• The Konkan coastline was inhibited by the Siddi people who migrated to India from Africa and finally settled here.
