Describe the various types of flagellation found in bacteria.

Bacteria has four types of flagellation

• Monotrichous. -These organisms have one flagellum at one end of the bacteria. Example: Vibrio cholerae.
• Amphitrichous. - These organisms have one flagellum at either end of the bacteria. Example: Alkaligens faecalis.
• Lophotrichous. - These organisms have tufts of flagella on one or both sides of the bacteria. Example: Spirillum.
• Peritrichous. - These organisms have flagella all over the bacteria.
