Describe three major differences between tropical moist forests and equatorial forests.

Open in App
Solution

Three major difference between tropical moist forests and equatorial forests are:
1) Tropical forests get only "50 inches" of rain annually whereas equatorial forests are called real rainforests and get more than 80 inches of rainfall throughout the year.
2) Tropical forests are found at the greater distance from the equator where day length and rainfall vary seasonally, whereas equatorial forests are near the equator where variation is very little and day length is constant.
3) Tropical moist forests are distinguished by equatorial forests by a cooler dry season.
