  1. When two parents participate in the reproductive process and also involve fusion of male and female gametes, it is called sexual reproduction.
  2. During sexual reproduction two types of gametes fuse.
  3. Although the gametes contain the same number of chromosomes, their DNA is not identical.
  4. This situation brings in variations among offsprings.
  5. This improves the chances of acquiring new traits that boost biological fitness and survival.
