Solution

The dehydration of ethanol in presence of conc sulphuric acid or phosphoric acid gives ethylene.
CH3CH2OHconc.H2SO4−−−−−−H2OCH2=CH2
The reactions of ethylene with:
(i) Baeyer's reagent (cold dilute alkaline KMnO4): CH2=CH2alkaline.KMnO4−−−−−−−−−Δ2HCOOH2CO2+2H2
(ii) Ozone: H2C=CH21)O3−−−−−2)Zn/H2O2HCHO
(iii) Sulphur monochloride: 2H2C=CH2+S2Cl2S(CH2CH2Cl)2 Mustard gas+S
(iv) Chlorine: H2C=CH2+SClClCH2CH2Cl 1,2-dichloroethane
