Dear student, for designing an experiment to show that sunlight is essential for photosynthesis, i) Take a plant with destarched leaf ii) Partially cover the leaf with black paper and mark a design on that part ( for indication) iii) Expose this plant for few hours under sunlight iv) Perform the starch test with iodine solution. OBSERVATION: Only exposed part of the leaf shows blue-black coloration. RESULT - Starch is present in the exposed leaf. CONCLUSION- Leaf exposed to sunlight gave a positive iodine test ( showing the presence of starch) , proving sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis.
