Solution

The correct option is D seedless
If an ovary develops into fruit without fertilization, it is called parthenocarpic fruit. Parthenocarpy (literally meaning virgin fruit) is the natural or artificially induced production of fruit without fertilization of ovules. The fruit is therefore seedless. All other fruits are formed as a result of fertilisation.
  • The seeds and fruits are the results of fertilisation in plants. The ovary develops into the fruit whereas the ovules become the seeds enclosed within the fruit.
  • Flowers with polycarpellary and apocarpous gynoecium give rise to a number of fruitlets as there are a number of free ovaries, each giving rise to one fruitlet. Such fruits are called aggregate fruits.
  • A fruit developing from a complete inflorescence is called a multiple or a composite fruit.
