Dear student,
The difference between iodimetric and iodometric titrations are as follows:
a) In Iodimetric titration an iodine solution is directly titrated with a reducing solution while in iodometric titration the iodine which has been produced as a result of a previous redox reaction is been titrated with reducing agent.
b) In Iodimetry there occurs only one redox reaction while in iodometry two redox reactions takes place.
c) Iodimetric titration is a direct method of analysis while iodometric titration is indirect method of analysis.
d) In Iodimetric titrations iodine only gets reduced while in iodometric titrations iodine is first oxidized and then reduced by reducing agents.
