Carotenoids are pigments that impart bright red, yellow and orange colour to fruits and vegetables while carotenes are hydrocarbons that are important for photosynthesis.
Carotenes are a type of carotenoids that lack an oxygen molecule in their structure.

​​​​​​These are found in CHROMOPLASTS.
