Open in App
Solution

Cold blooded animals are those animals which change their body temperature according to the changes in the environment. These are ectothermic animals or otherwise called as poikilothermic animals.

e.g. a)Chameleon, being a reptile is a cold-blooded animal. It stands perpendicular to the sun’s rays so as to obtain more sunlight.
b)Fish, during cool winters just move into deep waters ormigrate to warmer regions.
c)Insects like honey bees generate heat by beating their wings rapidly.

Warm-blooded animals are those animals which maintain constant temperature of their body without any fluctuations.

e.g. a)Mammals are warm-blooded animals which can generate heat by metabolic activities inorder to maintain their body temperature constant.
b)Birds can generate lot of heat through their metabolic reactions. Only little amount of food what they eat is converted into body mass. Rest of it is utilised inorder to generate heat to maintain body temperature constant.
