Cells differentiate in shape and size to perform a particular function. This modification allows the cell to perform its specific function.
Example: 1. In a mature RBC the organelles are lost and the space is occupied by haemoglobin molecule that transports Oxygen. The shape is biconcave to facilitate easy movement through the capillaries
2. The nerve cells are elongated for conduction of impulses.
