Open in App
Solution

Respiration can be of two types:

  • Aerobic respiration (respiration that takes place in presence of oxygen)
  • Anaerobic respiration (respiration that takes place in absence of oxygen)

Difference between them:

Aerobic Respiration

Anaerobic Respiration

Aerobic respiration occurs in presence of oxygen.Anaerobic respiration takes place in absence of oxygen.
Both glycolysis and krebs cycle takes place in this type of respiration.Only glycolysis occurs in this type of respiration.
It provides more energy i.e. 38 ATP moleculesIt provides less energy i.e. 2 ATP molecules.
The end products are CO2 and H2O.The end products are either ethyl alcohol or lactic acid and CO2.
