Antheridia and archegonia

Antheridia are the male sex organs of the bryophytes and pteridophytes, whereas archegonia are the female sex organs. The antheridium is stalked, globose or somewhat elliptic structure having an outer sterile one cell thick jacket which surrounds a solid mass of fertile cells, the androcytes whereas the archegonium is a flask shaped structure with a basal swollen venter and upper slender neck.
