1. Aromatic compounds:
a. Have benzene cycle in their structure
b. Have a greater percentage of carbon than non-aromatic compounds.
c. Don't show bear test or bromine test.
d. Mainly show nucleophilic replacement reactions.
e. Show resonance in their structure.
e. Examples - benzene, naphthalene, pyridine etc.
2. Antiaromatic compounds:
a. Cyclic compounds but do have benzene cycle.
b. Basically aliphatic compounds.
c. Examples - cyclobutadiene, cyclohexane etc
3. Non-aromatic compounds:
a. Can be chained or cyclic but don't have a benzene cycle.
b. Saturated or unsaturated compounds.
c. Don't show resonance in their structure.
d. Mainly show electrophilic reactions.
e. Unsaturated non-organic compounds show bear and bromine test.
f. Examples - alkanes, alkenes, alkynes.
