Arteries | Veins |
1. Arteries have thick and elastic muscular walls as they receives blood under high pressure from the heart. | 1.The veins have thin and less elastic walls as the blood they carry is at low pressure. |
2.Arteries have oxygenated blood except for the pulmonary artery which carries blood from the heart to the lungs. | 2. All the veins have de-oxygenated blood except the pulmonary vein that carries blood from the lungs to the heart. |
3. Arteries does not have valves inside their lumen. | 3. Veins have valves inside their lumen that helps the blood to flow in one direction only. |
