Average Speed
  • The distance travelled by an object in a given interval of timthe is called average speed
  • It is a scalar quantity
  • Average speed does not indicate direction and can only be positive or zero.
Average Velocity
  • the rate of change of displacement is called avergae velocity
  • It is a vector quantity
  • Average velocity indicates direction and can be represented as a negative number when the displacement is in the negative direction, so it can be zero, positive or negative number.
