Blind spot and fovea centralis

At the beginning of the optic nerve in the retina of eye there is a spot free from rods and cones. This spot is devoid of the ability for vision and is called blind spot. A little lateral to the blind spot there is the site of highest vision ability, known as fovea centralis. The fovea centralis contains only cones and no rods.
