Differentiate between consumers and decomposers.
Consumers: Organisms that depend on the green plants and other animals for food.
Decomposers: Some microscopic organisms that feed on the dead bodies of organisms and decaying organic matter are called decomposers.
Consumers | Decomposers |
1. Consumers take the producers and other animals as their food. | 1. In ecosystem they take their food from the dead and decaying substances from producers and consumers. |
2. On the basis of their food taking consumers are mainly three types - Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. | 2. Food taking habits of all are the same. |
3. According to their nutrition mode they are mainly two types - herbivores and carnivores. | 3. Decomposers are all saprophytic in nature. |
4. Most of all the animals are consumers. | 4. Many Bacteria and fungi play an important role as decomposers in a ecosystem. |
