Instructions:
Explain how conventional and non-conventional resources differ from each other based on their availability and environmental impacts with examples.
Solution:
Conventional resources have been in common use for a long time. They produce a bulk of energy but cause a lot of pollution. Also, these are exhaustible sources of energy. They are limited in nature; they are renewable resources and should be used judicially. Coal, petroleum and natural gas are examples of conventional sources of energy.
Unlike conventional sources, these sources are cheaper, new in terms of usage and pollution free. These resources have an unlimited supply; that is, they are renewable. Solar, wind, hydro, tidal, geothermal and biogas are some examples of non-conventional resources.
