Open in App
Solution

  1. Dominant : The dominant trait is the trait that first appears or is visibly displayed in the organism.
  2. Recessive : The recessive trait is a trait that exists at the gene level but is masked and does not manifest in the organism.

Dominance Recessive
According to the law of dominance, one allele in a gene pair will be dominant over the other allele and it is called the dominant allele. The other allele called the recessive allele will be recessive over the other allele.
If a gene pair is homozygous for the dominant allele, then the dominant character will get expressed. If the gene pair is homozygous for the recessive alleles, then the recessive character will get expressed.
The dominant allele is represented in capital letters. The recessive allele is represented in small letters.
