1. In epigeal germination, the cotyledon is above the ground.
2. In hypogeal germination, the cotyledon is below the ground.

Epigeal germination	Hypogeal germination
Epicotyl grows first then hypocotyl.	Hypocotyl grows first then epicotyl.
Both plumule and cotyledons are pushed outside the soil	Only the plumule part is pushed outside the soil.
