Open in App
Solution

Exothermic Reactions Endothermic Reactions
Chemical reactions which liberate heat are called exothermic reactions. Chemical reactions which absorb heat are called exothermic reactions.
Products have less energy than reactants. Products have more energy than reactants
The surroundings are hotter. The surroundings become cooler.

For example: Magnesium + Hydrochloric acid → Magnesium chloride + Hydrogen + heat

Mg + 2HCl MgCl2 + H2 + heat

For example: Potassium permanganate + heat → Potassium manganate + Manganese dioxide + Oxygen

2KMnO4 K2MnO4 + MnO2 + O2
