Question

Differentiate between :
Fermentation and anaerobic respiration

Open in App
Solution

In anaerobic respiration, carbohydrates are degraded into two or more simpler molecules by the processes which do not require molecular oxygen and occurs in the cytoplasm. In this process the carbon skeleton of glucose molecule is never completely released as CO2 and in some it may not release at all. Whereas fermentation is a type of anaerobic respiration, often controlled by ferments, secreted by microorganisms.
