Solution
Fertilization is a genetic and biochemical process preceded by pollination or transport of male gametes to the female ovary where the fertilization takes place. It is a process in which haploid male gamete fuses with a haploid female gamete and forms a diploid zygote.
Pollination refers to the physical deposition of pollen grains on the stigma. Contrary to fertilization, pollination is an external mechanism. It is achieved by the help of pollinating agents or pollinators like winds, animals, insects etc.
