Differentiate between gamete and zygote.
Zygote:
A zygote is a type of diploid cell which is formed by the fusion of male and female gametes.
Gamete:
Gametes are haploid germ cells formed in sexual reproduction by the process of meiosis.
Zygote | Gamete |
1. It is a diploid cell. | 1. It is a haploid sex cell |
2. It is formed after the fusion of male and female gamete. | 2. Formed after the process of meiosis. |
3. The formation of zygote takes place in the female reproductive organs. | 3. Both male and female reproductive part produces gametes. |
4. Embryo is formed from the zygote. | 4. Gametes are necessary for sexual reproduction. |
5. It makes the number of chromosomes equal to the normal body cell. | 5. Gametes are produced after halving the number of chromosomes. |
