Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat form an integral part of the Panchayati Raj system. The differences between Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat are as follows:

Gram Sabha Gram Panchayat
1. It consists of all the adult members of the village. 1. It consists of five people elected by the Gram Sabha.
2. It is a discussion place for all plans of the panchayat such as annual budget for developmental schemes and personal problems. 2. Its main functions are to collect taxes, maintain records, implement government schemes and ensure the welfare of the people.
3. They keep a check on the panchayat. 3. Every work undertaken by the panchayat needs to be approved by the Gram Sabha.
