The individuals in which both chromosomes contain the same allele of a specific gene are called as homozygous. In homozygous condition, both the dominant and the recessive genotype will be expressed. The individuals which possess more than one allele for the specific gene are called as heterozygous. In heterozygous individuals, only the dominant genotype is expressed.
