  2. It of two types: hypogeal and epigeal germination.

Hypogeal germination:

  1. The epicotyl elongates and the cotyledons remain below or on the surface of the ground.
  2. This type of germination of the seed is known as hypogeal germination.

Epigeal germination:

  1. The hypocotyl elongates forcing the cotyledons above the ground.
  2. This type of germination is known as epicotyl germination.
