Lentic and lotic habitats

The habitat such as ponds, lakes, etc., where the water is calm or standing is called lentic habitat. On the other hand, the habitat such as river, stream, spring, etc., where the water is running is called lotic habitat. The lotic habitats vary widely in the volume of water speed of flow, oxygen content,temperature and many other physical and chemical conditions.
