Differentiate between Linear and Cubical expansion
The differences are:
Linear expansion | Cubical expansion |
---|---|
1. The expansion in length observed due to heating of a substance, like rods, is known as Linear expansion. | 1. The expansion observed in volume due to heating of a substance is known as cubical expansion. |
2. It is observed only in objects that is structured like a rod. | 2. It is observed in any substance that is 3 dimensional. |
3. It is observed usually in solids. | 3. It is observed in all 3 types of matter. |
4. Examples are Telephone wires, electric wires etc. | 4. Examples are metal balls, water, the air in a balloon etc. |
