Differentiate between liquids and solid.
Liquids | Solids |
1. The inter-molecular space between the molecules of liquids is more than that in solids. | 1. The molecules in solids are closely packed and the inter-molecular distance between them is very less. |
2. The inter-molecular force of attraction is lesser in liquids. That's why they are loosely packed. | 2. The inter-molecular force in solids is very strong. |
3. Liquids do not have a fixed shape and take the shape of the container they are poured in. | 3. Solids have a fixed shape and size. |
4. Liquids are almost in-compressible. | 4. Solids can not be compressed easily when pressed. |
5. Liquids expand on heating. | 5. Solids expand very little on heating. |
