Open in App
Solution

A single contraction by a muscle is called a muscle twitch. However, if a muscle fibre is stimulated by a rapid succession of many nerve impulses, it remains in a state of sustained contraction so long as the stimulation continues. When the muscle is in this condition it is said to be in the state of tetanus.
