  • Organic compounds are compounds having carbon and hydrogen atoms in the structure with other atoms.
  • Inorganic compounds are compounds that do not have carbon atoms in their structure.
  • Organic compounds exist in the form of covalent molecules, thus are non-electrolytes in nature.
  • Inorganic compounds are ionic in nature thus are electrolytes in nature.
  • Organic compounds have low melting and boiling points.
  • Inorganic compounds have a high melting point.
  • Organic compounds do not dissolve in water.
  • Inorganic compounds usually dissolve in water.
  • Example - methane (CH4), ethane (C2H6) , propane (C3H8), acetic acid (CH3COOH), proteins, alcohol, fats, oils etc.
  • Example - common salt, marble, carbon dioxide (CO2), ammonia (NH3), sulphuric acid (H2SO4), washing soda (NaHCO3), baking soda (Na2CO3), etc.
