Differentiate between pulmonary circulation and systemic circulation.
Pulmonary circulation:
The movement of deoxygenated blood away from the heart to the lungs and the movement of oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart is known as pulmonary circulation.
Systemic circulation:
The movement of the blood from the heart to the other body parts except the lungs and back to the heart is known as systemic circulation.
Pulmonary circulation: | Systemic circulation: |
1. Pulmonary circulation carries deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle of the heart to the lungs through the pulmonary artery. | 1. Systemic circulation carries the oxygenated blood from the left ventricle of the heart to the rest of the body. |
2. Pulmonary circulation carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart through the pulmonary vein. | 2. Systemic circulation carries the deoxygenated blood from the body parts to the right atrium of the heart by superior and inferior venacava. |
3. Composed of pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein. | 3. Composed of inferior and superior venacava, aorta and blood vessels. |
4. Carries blood to the lungs. | 4. Carries blood throughout the body. |
