Heat transfer in vacuum : 1 Mark
Radiation is a process of heat transfer in which light particles travel from the source to the destination even in the absence of any medium. These light particles which fall in the visible spectrum also have a warming effect. When these particles get absorbed in significant quantity, it increases the temperature of the respective body.
Conduction is a process of heat transfer from hot end to cold end from particle to particle of a medium, without actual movement of the particles. Conductions requires medium as the individual molecules which are fixed in their place transmit their energy to the adjacent molecules by vibration.
Radiation is for transferring heat from one place to another in a vacuum because radiation does not require medium for transferring heat, whereas in conduction medium is required for transferring of heat.
