Differentiate between respiration in plants and respiration in animals.

Open in App
Solution

Respiration

  • Respiration is the physical and chemical process by which an organism supplies its cells and tissues with the oxygen they need for metabolism while also removing the carbon dioxide produced in energy-producing activities.

Difference between plant and animal respiration:

Respiration in plants

Respiration in animals

Plants don't have lungs and only breathe through their leaves. Animals use lungs for breathing.
Plants use the carbon dioxide generated during respiration in the photosynthesis process

Animals do not use the carbon dioxide generated during breathing; instead, it is expelled outside the body.
