Differentiate between short day and long day plant.

A short day plant flowers under short day condition (i.e., less then critical length of day) whereas a long day plant flowers under long day condition (more than critical day length). In short day plants, flowering is inhibited if long dark period is interrupted by a flash of light. However, flowering is not inhibited by interruption of dark period by a flash of light.
