Question

Differentiate between symbiosis and predation

Open in App
Solution

  1. Symbiosis- It is the relation between two organisms which give mutual benefit to both.
  2. Predation- it involves one animal feeding on another.
SYMBIOSISPREDATION
  1. In a symbiotic relationship, two organisms live together such that one or both benefit. It is also called symbiosis.
  1. Predation involves one animal feeding on another. A predator hunts and kills another organism for food. The organism that is hunted and killed by another organism to be its food is prey.
2 For example, lichens consist of a fungus and an alga. The fungus absorbs nutrients from its environment, while the alga, which contains chlorophyll, makes food. 2. Consumers get nutrition from the earlier trophic level by predation. The relationships between a tiger and a deer, between a snake and a frog, and between an eagle and a mouse are examples of predator-prey relationships.
