Solution
(a) Extensive and Intensive farming ;
Intensive method of agriculture is practiced in those countries where the supply of land is limited and density of population is great. On the other hand, an extensive method of agriculture is practiced in sparsely populated areas where per man land area is high and there is scope for bringing additional land under cultivation.
In intensive farming, farmer emphasis is on the greatest possible output from per hector land and on extensive agriculture farmer's main concern is to produce for sale the greatest quantity of crop.
(b) Climatic conditions of growing rice and wheat:
Rice is a tropical plant and requires high heat and high humidity for its successful growth. The temperature should be fairly high at mean monthly of 24 degrees C. The average annual rainfall required for rice is 150 cm. On the other hand, the condition of growth of wheat is more flexible than of rice. It is shown at the beginning of winter and harvested at the beginning of summer. The ideal wheat climate has winter temperature 10 degrees to 15 degrees C and summer temperature varying from 21 degrees C to 26 degrees C. Annual rainfall of 100 cm is the highest limit of wheat cultivation.
