The number of atoms present in one molecule of an element is called its atomicity.It is the combining capacity of an atom of an element with other atoms is known as valency.
For example, for the Oxygen molecule O2, the atomicity of the Oxygen atom is two and it is a diatomic molecule.The valencies of some common elements are as follows: Carbon: 4; Oxygen: 2; Hydrogen: 1; Nitrogen: 3.
