Axial skeleton:

  1. The center or longitudinal axis of the body is a straight line running through the body's center of gravity.
  2. This is an imaginary line extending through the head and down to the space between the legs.
  3. The part of the skeleton that lies around the axis is known as the axial skeleton.

Appendicular skeleton:

The appendicular skeleton consists of the bones of free appendages- upper and lower Limbs and the bones which connect the Limbs to the axial skeleton.
