Differentiate between the following:
Breathing and respiration
Breathing:
The process of intake of oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide is known as breathing.
Respiration:
Respiration is the chemical reaction in which glucose breaks down into carbon dioxide and energy by releasing energy.
Breathing | Respiration |
1. Breathing is a physical process. | 1. Respiration is a biochemical process. |
2. In breathing, oxygen will take in and carbon dioxide will give out. | 2. In respiration oxygen is used for the breaking of glucose. |
3. Take place in lungs. | 3. Take place in cells. |
4. Energy is not produced during breathing. | 4. Energy is produced during respiration. |
