Elements are pure substances which are composed of only one type of atom.Compounds are substances which are formed by two or more different types of elements chemically combined in a fixed proportion.
Molecules of elements can't be broken down into simpler substances by chemical methods or reactions.Molecules of compounds can be broken down into simpler substances by chemical methods or reactions.
Molecules of elements are represented using symbols.Molecules of compounds are represented using the chemical formula.
Examples: Carbon (C), Oxygen (O), Nitrogen (N), etc.Examples: Water (H2O), Carbon dioxide(CO2) Ammonia (NH3). etc.

Molecules: An atom or group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit that can take part in a chemical reaction.
