Differentiate between the following: Medulla Oblongata and Cerebellum.
Medulla Oblongata: The medulla is said to be the lowermost section of the brain as well as the bottom part of the brain stem.
Cerebellum: The cerebellum seems to be a fist-sized region of the brain situated behind the head, below the temporal and occipital lobes just above the brainstem.
Medulla Oblongata | Cerebellum |
The medulla oblongata controls various involuntary movements and the peristaltic waves of the digestive system, among other internal organ activities. | Maintaining equilibrium, coordinating movement, and coordinating muscle activation are the main functions of the cerebellum. |
