1. In terms of construction A pulley is a simple machine that has a grooved wheel that is capable of rotating about its axis and a rope to move a load. One end of the rope is attached to the load and effort is applied on the other end to move the load.	1. In terms of construction This simple machine is a combination of a wheel and an axle where the wheel moves as per the motion of the axle. The axle is a rod of a smaller radius fixed to the center of the wheel which is of a larger radius.
2. A pulley is used to lift heavy objects.	2. Wheel and axle arrangement is used to give the rotational motion to the wheel by the rod or to the rod by the wheel.
3. Pulley arrangement is used in well,cranes, motors and machines.	3. Steering of vehicles, door knob, screwdriver, giant wheel, fly wheel,s and wheels of sewing machines are examples of wheel and axle.
